Principles For Christian Liberality Referenced in “A Beginner’s Guide To The New Testament” By William Barclay
  • Giving for a Christian is nothing less than an obligation. (Romans 15:27; Galatians 2:10)
  • In giving love is turned into action and stops being mere words. (2 Corinthians 8:8)
  • Giving demonstrates the unity of the church. A unity in which it is impossible for some to have too much while others have too little. (2 Corinthians 8:10-15)
  • Giving should be proportionate to a person’s resources. We are asked out of our surplus to help those who have nothing at all. (1 Corinthians 16:1-2) (2 Corinthians 8:12-15)
  • Giving should be willing and joyous. It must be universal and not left to the few. (2 Corinthians 9:6-11)
  • Any gift to the poor is a thanksgiving to God. No one can show gratitude to God better than helping God’s children. (2 Corinthians 9:12)
  • The sight of such generosity and sense of responsibility for others is a powerful commendation of Christianity and brings glory to God.(2 Corinthians 9:13-15)

Focus Funds

NEED – A Northeast Tarrant County faith-based non-profit organization that provides short term emergency assistance of food, clothing, and financial support to area residents.  St Paul collects these items on a continuing basis with emphasis on giving the first Sunday of each month.
Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 6 – 7:  “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a a cheerful giver.”
Matthew 6: 3 – 4: “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
